About Us
Dr. Mark Penick is the Senior Pastor of First Baptist Church of Brandon, Florida. He has a double Bachelors in Business Administration and Biblical Studies from East Texas Baptist University, a Master of Divinity degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and a Ph.D. in Leadership Studies from Dallas Baptist University. He has served some of America’s most dynamic churches in Oklahoma, Georgia, Texas, Kansas, and Florida.
Dr. Penick's calling is to glorify God with the gospel while pastoring a Great Commission church (Matthew 28:18-20; Acts 1:8), leading in evangelism, discipleship, worship, fellowship, and mission. Mark is passionate about dividing the Word of God and boldly proclaiming its truth in relevant ways. His preaching inspires and equips the body of Christ to approach the Bible each day and look for its meaning to the original audience, to Christianity today, and to the individual. Throughout his ministry, Mark and his wife Starrla have been committed to personal evangelism, baptisms, missions, church planting, and the local church.
Mark and Starrla have been married since 2003 and have three children, Jaxton, Crewson, and Luxeigh. Starrla is actively involved in leading women’s ministries at the church and is also a Curriculum Development Consultant for a national non-profit organization. She enjoys cultivating relationships with women and speaking. Mark and Starrla continually open their home to others and count it a joy to serve the Kingdom of God through the local church. They enjoy running, the outdoors, and doing life together with God’s people.
